The modern guidebook for today’s AIP journey

The New Autoimmune Protocol (2026) by Mickey Trescott - includes all phases from transition through elimination stages (core or modified) to reintroductions, food lists, meal plans and recipes!

If you’re new to the Autoimmune Protocol (AIP) diet, returning to AIP after time away, or wondering whether Core AIP or Modified AIP is the right place to start, this book will help you decide.

If you’re looking for a clear, research-informed, and sustainable approach to the Autoimmune Protocol, this is the book I recommend starting with.

The New Autoimmune Protocol is the first official update to the AIP in years, written by Mickey Trescott — one of the founding leaders of the Autoimmune Protocol movement and a voice I’ve trusted throughout my own healing journey.

What Makes This Book Different

This guidebook is designed for real people navigating autoimmune disease—not just theory—and reflects how the AIP is being used successfully today. As diagnoses rise, so has our understanding of what actually helps people heal. Feedback from thousands of practitioners and millions of patients made one thing clear: AIP needed to evolve.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Mickey explains a more flexible, realistic framework that meets you where you are without abandoning the science-informed foundation that makes AIP effective.

More Than a Cookbook

Inside, you’ll find a clear explanation of autoimmune disease alongside 70+ nourishing recipes and meal plans for both paths. But this isn’t just a collection of recipes; it walks you through every essential phase:

  • Transition
  • Elimination
  • Reintroduction

Core AIP vs. Modified AIP Explained

One of the most common questions I hear is: What is the difference? This book answers that by providing specific paths for:

  • Core AIP: The traditional, more restrictive elimination (removing grains, dairy, eggs, nightshades, legumes, and seeds).

  • Modified AIP: A newer, less restrictive option that includes ghee, rice, seeds, and certain legumes.

The New Autoimmune Protocol builds on the original science-backed framework, integrating emerging research and years of clinical and practitioner feedback to create a more flexible, sustainable approach.

MORE THAN A COOKBOOK! So it’s listed in both cookbooks and good reads.

“Autoimmune diseases are now epidemic, with modern science offering those who are diagnosed limited solutions. Given this, many people suffering from these conditions have searched for alternatives using nutrition and lifestyle changes. In The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook, Mickey Trescott provides a resource for those looking to embark on the Autoimmune Protocol–a version of an ancestral diet that is focused both on removing potential food triggers as well as healing the gut. Research shows there is a clear connection between diet and autoimmune disease, and many, including the author, have used these principles to heal their bodies from these debilitating conditions and their accompanying symptoms. With the information and recipes in this book, you can embark on this process for yourself–without suffering through bland and tasteless “allergen-free” meals. Instead, with all of the incredible food you will be enjoying, you may forget that you are achieving better wellness!

In the first section of the book, you will learn all about the Autoimmune Protocol–what it is, why it works, and which foods you should eat and avoid while on the elimination diet. Instructions are given on how to clear your pantry of questionable ingredients and replace them with healing, nutrient-dense whole foods. Also included are sections on food quality, a shopping guide, tips and tricks to make the protocol go more smoothly, as well as ideas for batch-cooking and breakfast. Mickey provides two, 4-week meal plans, each of them corresponding with recipes from the book and featuring detailed shopping lists. Armed with this information, anyone can integrate the Autoimmune Protocol in to their routine!

In addition to the introductory material, The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook includes 112 delicious recipes suitable for anyone on the strictest phase of the Autoimmune Protocol–no grains, beans, dairy, eggs, nuts, seeds, or nightshades. Although this is quite the list of exclusions, Mickey offers unique, flavorful, and delicious meals suitable for a variety of occasions and preferences. You will find simple recipes that anyone can make for a weeknight dinner, as well as more elaborate preparations for those who want to enjoy with company or for a special occasion. Full-page photos for every recipe show you what to expect and inspire you to create beautiful meals of your own.

With the Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook as your guide, you’ll be inspired to take your health into your own hands–finding better health in the face of autoimmunity, while thoroughly enjoying every last bite!”

“Mickey’s 100% elimination diet-friendly cookbook featuring more than 115 recipes, a 30-day meal plan, and all the basics to get started.”

35 AIP meals that take 15 minutes or less to prep (aka 15mins of your time from counter to oven … then you relax).
Some are made in the oven, some are made in the slow cooker.

“This project came out of my need to make my AIP meals effortless. I wanted the oven to do the work, not me. I did not want to stand around the kitchen and tend to different pots cooking. I also did not want a lot of dishes to wash after preparing dinner. You will notice that these are simple, easy recipes that have no tricky ingredients in them. I maintained the starch, vegetable and protein component of traditional meals as well. This was helpful because the flavors stay separate and it is not like eating a casserole or stew every night.

Everything cooks in ONE dish. You can use a sheet pan, braising dish or a large cast iron skillet with a lid. (Read: EASY prep and hardly any cleanup!!)

This ebook is perfect for those on AIP who literally have no time or are frustrated by how long your AIP meals take. These recipes are easy, straightforward, contain no organ meats or unusual ingredients. You probably have half the ingredients in your fridge right now.

This is an uncomplicated collection of recipes. I used the oven for almost all of these, so now that summer is coming to a close, this ebook will be perfect timing for fall cooking. Fantastic for beginners or for those who have non-AIP eaters in your house.”
