Eating for both nutrient density and the Autoimmune Protocol has never been so easy thanks to The Nutrient-Dense Kitchen!
In The Nutrient-Dense Kitchen, Mickey teaches you everything you need to know about eating like a nutrivore. You’ll start with a comprehensive tour of nutrients that are essential for both optimal health and deep healing. You’ll also get an overview of Autoimmune Protocol details, some creative ideas for affordably sourcing the highest-quality and most nutrient-dense ingredients, and tips for setting up your kitchen to cook whole foods.
In addition to the recipes you’ll find five sets of meal plans and shopping lists to quick-start your approach to eating for nutrient density. The seasonal meal plans focus on ingredients that are at their peak ripeness and availability in the spring or fall seasons, while the budget meal plan incorporates recipes with an eye for affordability.
While this is not an AIP-specific book, I found the information in general to be very helpful and I love how each of the 50 foods are discussed and related to how they can be used for various health concerns.
“Life-Changing Foods delves deeper into the healing power of over 50 fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, and wild foods that can have an extraordinary effect on health. Anthony explains each food’s properties, the symptoms and conditions it can help relieve or heal, and the emotional and spiritual benefits it brings. And he offers delicious recipes to help you enjoy each food’s maximum benefit, from sweet potatoes with braised cabbage stuffing to honey-coconut ice cream.”
If you’re struggling with thyroid health I seriously recommend taking the time to look at this book. It’s a wealth of information and very eye opening.
“The thyroid is the new hot topic in health. Across age groups, from baby boomers and their parents to millennials and even children, more and more people—women especially—are hearing that their thyroids are to blame for their fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, memory issues, aches and pains, tingles and numbness, insomnia, hair loss, hot flashes, sensitivity to cold, constipation, bloating, anxiety, depression, heart palpitations, loss of libido, restless legs, and more. Everyone wants to know how to free themselves from the thyroid trap.
Labeling someone with “Hashimoto’s,” “hypothyroidism,” or the like doesn’t explain the myriad health issues that person may experience. That’s because there’s a pivotal truth that goes by unnoticed: A thyroid problem is not the ultimate reason for a person’s illness. A problematic thyroid is yet one more symptom of something much larger than this one small gland in the neck. It’s something much more pervasive in the body, something invasive, that’s responsible for the laundry list of symptoms and conditions attributed to thyroid disease.
In Medical Medium Thyroid Healing, Anthony William, the Medical Medium, reveals an entirely new take on the epidemic of thyroid illness. Empowering readers to become their own thyroid experts, he explains in detail what the source problem really is, including what’s going on with inflammation, autoimmune disease, and dozens more symptoms and conditions, then offers a life-changing toolkit to rescue the thyroid and bring readers back to health and vitality. It’s an approach unlike any other, and as his millions of fans and followers will tell you, it’s the approach that gets results.”
The G-Free Diet is not specifically AIP, but THIS is where I started my journey many years ago before AIP, and a LOT of folks that eventually end up here on the AIP may or may not have already gone Gluten Free.
I’ve decided to share this here because I very much enjoyed the book, I think it holds value for folks that may not have ditched gluten and are struggling with it, and for folks that are AIP but think their loved ones or friends might benefit from at least going Gluten Free.
I loved reading Elisabeth’s story about her time on the reality show Survivor (oh my heck) and how that was the catalyst to her realizing she needed to ditch gluten!
“In this all-inclusive book, Hasselbeck shares her hard-earned wisdom on living life without gluten and loving it. She gives you everything you need to know to start living a gluten-free life, from defining gluten – where to find it, how to read food labels – to targeting gluten-free products, creating G-Free shopping lists, sharing recipes, and managing G-Free living with family and friends.”
Outlines a plan for treating and reversing such digestive disorders as Crohn’s disease, IBS, gluten and lactose intolerance, yeast infections, and more, recounting the author’s own near-fatal experience with Crohn’s disease and how he recovered by learning about his body’s natural biology.

I’ve learned so much from Dr. Amy Myers!! Exceptional book! Packed with great advice – even a letter to your doctor to help you get the best results.
“From the author of the New York Times bestseller The Autoimmune Solution, a comprehensive, accessible overview of thyroid problems that will help you learn to identify the warning signs and finally take back your health.
Are you exhausted all the time, plagued by brain fog, and unable to lose weight? Do you struggle with insomnia, panic attacks, and tremors? But does your doctor insist that your labs are normal, and that you just need to eat less and exercise more? As anyone who has been there knows, nothing is more frustrating, stressful, and emotionally draining than feeling unwell and being told you’re fine by the very person who is supposed to heal you.
The truth is, your symptoms could be caused by a thyroid disorder–the hidden cause behind a wide array of health problems that can threaten to ruin your life. Thyroid dysfunctions like Hashimoto’s disease, hypothyroidism, and hyperthyroidism affect at least 20 million Americans and yet conventional medicine frequently misses the diagnosis. The scariest part? Most doctors won’t even order thyroid tests unless you specifically ask.
Now, in The Thyroid Connection, Dr. Amy Myers teaches you how to take your health into your own hands. Dr. Myers, originally misdiagnosed herself, understands the struggles of thyroid dysfunction firsthand. Fortunately, she also knows how achievable recovery and well-being are, and just how to get you there. In The Thyroid Connection, you’ll discover:
• How to work with your doctor to get the correct diagnosis
• What blood tests to ask for, as well as what they mean
• How to find the right type and dose of supplemental thyroid hormone for you
• The role of gut health, diet, toxins, infections, and stress in thyroid dysfunction
• A complete 28-day plan to jumpstart your health and reverse your thyroid symptoms
Complete with advice on diet and nutrition, supplements, exercise, stress relief, and sleep, The Thyroid Connection is the ultimate roadmap back to your happiest, healthiest self.”
NOTE: Dr. Myers recommends “The Myers Way” as an autoimmune diet – this varies slightly from the AIP but is similar. It may or may not be right for you. I’m including this book in the recommended reads because the information is exceptional!
Another great read if you’re dealing with the challenges of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.
“Dr. Izabella Wentz, the author of the phenomenal New York Times bestseller Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, returns with a long-awaited, groundbreaking prescription to reverse the symptoms of this serious autoimmune condition that is becoming one of the country’s fastest growing diseases.
More than thirty-five million Americans currently suffer from Hashimoto’s—an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid gland and causes the body to attack its own cells. To alleviate the symptoms of this debilitating condition—including chronic cough, acid reflux, IBS, allergies, chronic pain, hair loss, brain fog, and forgetfulness—patients are often prescribed synthetic hormones that have numerous life-altering side effects.
But there is a better way.
Diagnosed with Hashimoto’s at twenty-seven, pharmacist Dr. Izabella Wentz knows first-hand the effects of the disease, as well as the value—and limitations—of medication. The key to improved health, she argues, involves lifestyle interventions. In Hashimoto’s Protocol, she outlines a proven treatment that has helped thousands heal and many others feel better—in as fast as ninety days.
Drawing on her own personal experience as well as her work consulting with thousands of patients, Hashimoto’s Protocol offers a practical pathway for healing and reversing the autoimmune damage at the root of the disease. The first step is a quick-start two-week detox that includes foods to eat and inflammatory foods to avoid, advice on supplements to support the liver, and an adrenal recovery plan. Next, readers create a personalized plan with foods, supplements, and other lifestyle interventions tailored to their body’s own unique Hashimoto’s triggers, which they can identify using self-tests included in the book. Hashimoto’s Protocol also features original recipes.
Grounded in the latest science, Hashimoto’s Protocol is the first book to offer a proven protocol by an acknowledged expert in the field to treat this condition and help sufferers reclaim their lives.”
I’m sharing this book by Jessica Flanigan almost a little reluctantly (keep reading to find out why) but I think it’s worth the read if you’re stalled on AIP and are NOT finding healing.
She used to be a big advocate of the AIP diet but saw that a lot of her patients ended up “Stuck” … and with that she’s turned a bit “Anti-AIP.”
I’ve watched her in live FB talks and she believes that AIP helps people, but that people also fail to do it correctly – i.e. they don’t seek professional help, they don’t progress through all stages of the AIP, and they also don’t address many of the big lifestyle factors that we need to manage while facing autoimmune disease.
Jessica strongly believes that emotional and spiritual healing are necessary for optimal health, and I do believe some of her approaches warrant consideration…. so here you go!
